If idioms were literal

If idioms were literal

It’d rain cats and dogs
And we’d be soaked
In the animals’ blood

A storm would emerge from a teacup
And nobody would be able
To stand the fury if the tea

We’d see mountain from a molehill
Which would be an herculean task
Did you see another one there?

Imagine harvesting an apple
From your eyes each time you’re itchy
To gulp down your throat one wholesome.

If idioms were literal
Life might not be too pleasant
But I’d have loved it that way.
