Death Lost

Sneaking into my heart
Many years ago when the
Eyes dwell in the knee’s habitat
I knew we’d outlive life.

Walking down the aisle
Some moons later with
Words flying out of my scabbard
I knew we’d conquer the monster.

Now in the sepulchre
We cast our eyes’ net back
To those time immemorial seeing
What welded us was platonic.

Seeds that had been dispersed
From our loins kept giving us reason
To leave behind our existence
And here we’re fulfilling another welding.

Death thought he’d parted us
Like Moses’s rod did to the red sea
Love told him off seeing we’re stronger
In death we won; in death, death lost.
